CCTV in Six-Storey Buildings: Possible Prerequisite For Planning Permits.

Did you know that the Lagos State Government has said it would henceforth demand the compulsory provision of closed-circuit television cameras in buildings of six floors and above as a prerequisite for the issuance of planning permits?

The disclosure was recently made by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Oluyinka Olumide, in Alausa, Ikeja.

The initiative, it is believed, would boost security and public safety in line with the smart city agenda of the Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu.

According to the Commissioner, "Property owners will, as a requirement for a planning permit, now be mandated to install CCTV cameras in all existing buildings of six floors and above along major roads in the state as well as in all proposed or under-construction buildings of six floors and above anywhere in the state."
